Health Equity

The 2026 MICCAI Open Data Special Issue marked several major milestones for the initiative, including recognition as an official MICCAI Special Interest Group (SIG), the introduction of Health Equity micro-grants, 29 submissions to the Open Data Track, and 16 accepted dataset papers advancing FAIR and inclusive medical AI research.

AFRICAI-RI is a €5M Horizon Europe project establishing Africa’s first federated medical imaging infrastructure. As Erasmus MC PI and Work Package Lead, I contribute to building the FAIR and federated infrastructure enabling collaborative AI research across Africa.
